Gua Sha Jade Stone Facial

gua sha

Dr. Ping Zhang is quoted as saying “”Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese treatment that has been touted for its incredible beauty and healing effects, namely in preventing and treating the signs of aging such as wrinkles, sagging, dark circles, and for promoting overall skin rejuvenation from the inside out.”

The Gua Sha Facial technique is performed by using a small jade board and a gentle hand.  The skin is massaged, manipulated and stimulated along  specific energy points using a “scraping” motion which helps break up blood stagnation, release toxins, and promote lymphatic drainage.

The appearance of wrinkles, sagging, dark eye circles, puffy eyes, age spots and discolorations are reduced.  We all want a healthy younger looking  radiant complexion, so go online and schedule yourself a Gua Sha Jade Stone Facial here at

P.S.  If you googling images of GUA SHA massage you might be shocked at the red  bruised like streaks on the body.  DO NOT let this alarm you.  Facial Gua Sha is done with a very light handed stroke. It may only cause slight flushing on the skin that usually subsides within 20-30 minutes.

Why your skin needs you to SLEEP.

“Beauty Sleep” isn’t just used as a marketing term!!

Having a regular sleeping pattern is the best way to make a noticeable difference to your skin.  When you fall into a REM Sleep (3rd and 4th stages of sleep) your skin goes into repair mode and produces cells and hormones that help boost collagen production.

Sleep increases the sleep hormone melatonin.  Getting a restorative nights sleep can help accelerate the growth of fibroblasts cells, which in turn produce new collagen and elastin. Melatonin also protects skin by acting as a powerful antioxidant to fight off free radical such as damaging UV rays and pollutants.

Also while your sleeping, the production of the stress hormone cortisol is reduced. Cortisol can cause many skin issues, from thinning skin, discoloration, dryness, acne as well as redness. We all know that when we are stressed out to the max  it really affects appearance of our skin.

Ingredient Spot Light MARBLE BERRY

marble berry

Marble berry extract is derived from the fruit of a unique plant the supplier discovered in the Tanzanian bush. For the first time in the plant world, the supplier says, the fruit of the marble berry plant has been observed reflecting color using a similar method to that of a peacock’s feather or a butterfly’s wing. As a result, it produces a more intense color than any previously described biological material.

It also contains respectable levels of polyphenols – exhibiting exceptional antioxidant activity at very low use levels.
A photo of the ‘polarized light’ effect, as it reflects off a marble berry, is shown. Our lab says that the light reflected is circularly polarized to the left or the right, which is the characteristic of a chiral structure. Plus – the color of the fruit remains exceptionally brilliant for years after being picked.

After the team obtained samples of the raw material, and shipped it to the U.S. to extract and study, they determined that this unique, one-of-a-kind plant displays the most brilliant coloration in the known world.

Marble Berry Nourishing Mask points of interest:

AAEAAQAAAAAAAAaDAAAAJDQzMjAwNzU5LWU5ZDUtNDEyNS1iNTBhLTZjMDUzMWMwYjhiMQAn LED Light Therapy Facial is a gentle treatment that uses narrow spectrum light to boost collagen, which creates plumper, younger-looking skin, or to kill the bacteria that causes acne.

LED photo facials are a good choice for people who want to boost collagen or treat acne. Their collagen-boosting, facial rejuvenation properties have been proven with medical research.

How does LED light therapy work? LED is short for Light-Emitting Diode. This therapy is an excellent addition to any facial treatment because it uses different colors of light to enhance the skins cellular metabolism. This accelerates the repairing and replenishment of damaged cells.

NASA’s studies have shown that cells exposed to LED Therapy revitalize skin in it’s natural form but only 150% times faster! The thing I love about using LED Therapy is that’s it’s great for anyone and everyone.

Red LED Light Therapy light to help improve skin texture, color, and tone while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Red light stimulates fibroblast cells within the dermis to produce collagen and elastin. Collagen plumps up the skin to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, while elastin helps to firm sagging skin. Red light also works to reduce inflammation and thereby decrease the redness associated with rosacea, particularly when used in conjunction with blue light.

Green LED Light Therapy targets melanocytes, melanin-producing cells located in the bottom layer of the skin’s epidermis. It inhibits the production of excess melanin, prevents it from traveling to the skin’s surface, and breaks up melanin clusters to diminish existing discoloration. Over time, spots simply fade away for a younger looking, rejuvenated, and more even complexion.

Blue LED Light Therapy is not a cure, but when used with an acne treatment plan it can help you to achieve the results that you are looking for.

Blue Light treatments are effective because they kill the source of your acne. It attacks the bacterium and stops the problem where it starts.
LED Light Therapy is not to be confused with laser treatments, LED Therapy is non-invasive, causing no pain whatsoever, and there’s absolutely no down time. Because LED Therapy is such a mild, yet effective, treatment the more often you can incorporate this therapy into your skin regimen the better.  This service can be added on to every treatment you receive to start the natural healing, revitalizing power of LED Therapy.

Skin Type verses Skin Conditions

As an Esthetician I get asked all the time “what type of facial or product is best for me.

Generally the first question I ask is what about your skin would you like to change?  Followed by what their current home care regime is.  Often times many clients are not even sure what products to buy.  This can be very confusing when you standing in the aisle with 100’s of products on the shelves.

First you need to know what your skin type is and secondly what skin condition you wish to treat.  Don’t know they difference?

Hopefully this will help break it down.

Skin Types are defined as the skin you are naturally born with and generally fall into these categories. Your basic skincare needs are affected by the type of skin you have and  will determine your daily facial routine.

Normal: Normal skin is characterize as having a smooth texture with small unnoticeable pores,  There are no visible blemishes, greasy patches or flaky areas.

Dry:  Dry Skin is often the most confusing as many people think their skin is dry when its actually dehydrated.  Dry skin is skincare means the absence of oils in the skin.  It is characterized as dull, tight and with flaky patches. The appearance of the pores will be small and your skin may also have lack of elasticity.

Oily: Oily Skin  is caused by overactive sebaceous glands and increased amount of lipids on the skin surface, Your skin will generally appear overly shiny and greasy.  The pores will also be larger and may also be congested and prone to blackheads.

Combination: Combination skin is the most popular skin type.  With a combination skin type your an share one or more of the other skin types listed. Most people with combination skin will have an oilier t-zone area (forehead nose and  chin) and drier areas on the cheeks and under the eyes.

Sensitive:  Sensitive skin is not really a skin type but rather as skin condition. Most people who claim to be sensitive may frequently experience redness, itching, burning, bumps/hives and/or dryness when the application of a topical skin care products. HOWEVER, those who experience sensitivity should ALWAYS choose products suited to sensitive skin before ANY other skin type or skin condition.

Skin Conditions are very different.  Skin conditions are not genetic and can change at any time. Skin conditions  are caused mainly by external factors and can be found on all the different Skin Types.

The most common  skin conditions are

Acne: consists of persistent break outs usually inflamed and/or red

Aging: loss of elasticity and muscle tone as well as wrinkles

Dehydration : 9 of of 10 people are dehydrated due lack of water in the skin (not lack of oils)  You can be oily and dehydrated at the same time.

Hyperpigmentation:  is characterized as having an uneven distribution of melanin or skin tone.  You can experience this in small patches or widely spread all over the body.

This can be caused by many factor

  • Sun exposure can cause Lentigines also known as Age Spots or Liver Spots.  Your best defense is wearing SPF daily!
  • Hormonal changes ( Melasma is common during pregnancy, with thyroid conditions, and in those whom use birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy.
  • Heredity
  • Acne (hyperpigmentation is caused by acne or some other trauma that causes  inflammation in the skin, it is known as PIH, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

These and other conditions can be managed with regular visits to your Esthetican and with a commitment to a proper home care regime.  Still unsure of which way to go?  Book yourself an Allure Signature Facial with me and let go over your skin type your skin condition and get you started with proper treatments and protocols.
